The Bauchi State Police Command said it had on Saturday, apprehended a
40 year-old man who was allegedly hired for a fee of N50,000, to abduct
and kill one Tahiru Sulaiman of Nabordo town in Bauchi State.
The
arrest is contained in a statement issued by the command’s Public
Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed, and made available to the News
Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday.
It said the culprit (name
withheld), a resident of Gulawa village in Toro Local Government area of
Bauchi, was hired by a 25 year-old resident of Zaranda village in
Bauchi, to carry out the heinous crime.
The command said the culprit,
who posed as a member of a vigilante group before abducting his victim,
had already received N5, 000 as advance payment, before police waded in
and rescued the victim, following intelligence report.
It listed the
items recovered at the scene of the crime, to include one red Boxer
motorcycle, one cutlass and the sum of N5, 000, being the advance
payment.
It said the sponsor of the crime had also been apprehended and investigation into the matter had commenced.
